The Importance of Clinical Accuracy and Validation

Written By:
The ADC Medical Education Team

Blood pressure readings taken at home help people and their healthcare providers spot trends, manage hypertension, and make better-informed decisions. But those readings are only as useful as they are accurate.

That’s why we’re proud to share that ADC’s Advantage digital home blood pressure monitors are now included on the US Blood Pressure Validated Device Listing (VDL).

The VDL grew out of clinical accuracy criteria developed by the American Medical Association and is managed by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago. With valuable input from clinicians, specialists, and health care organizations, NORC reviews clinical evidence to decide which monitors qualify. Devices that meet the criteria are then put on the VDL, published at validatebp.org.

Validated ADC Monitors

ADC’s complete line of digital home blood pressure monitors are now listed:

*This product meets the Validated Device Listing (“VDL”) criteria (as listed on validatebp.org) for validation of clinical accuracy, based on the independent review and acceptance of documentation submitted by the manufacturer.

ADC’s Broader Commitment to Quality

Our inclusion on the listing is just one indicator of ADC’s broader commitment to quality. For more than 40 years, we’ve prioritized quality and engineer it into every stage of our product life cycle.

Few in the industry can match the investments we’ve made in this arena. Quality and sourcing offices in Ningbo, China, and Taipei, Taiwan, sample each shipment from every vendor to ensure our products meet – and often beat – the toughest national and international standards. Components are inspected again in our New York testing lab, as are the finished instruments we assemble domestically.

Through these efforts ADC is certified to the ISO 13485:2016 quality management system standard under the Medical Device Single Audit Program or MDSAP.

Additionally, the Advantage 6112, Advantage Plus 6121 and Advantage Connect 6024N are also compliant with medical device and non-invasive blood pressure monitor standards IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-1-11, and AAMI/ANSI/IEC 80601-2-30. Clinical Testing per standard ISO 81060-2:2013 were conducted on a blood pressure device using the same measurement technology.

Further, the Advantage Connect 6115 is manufactured to meet the European and United States standards for non-invasive blood pressure monitors: IEC 80601-2-30; ISO 81060-2; IEC 60601-1; IEC60601-1-11; IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC).

About the ADC Advantage Line

Each of our Advantage monitors pairs validated accuracy with features that make home monitoring easier:

  • Automatic inflation and deflation with measurements taken on inflation for more comfortable readings

  • Advanced features like Irregular Heartbeat Detection, which can provide early indication of potential heart rhythm issues

  • Large, easy-to-read displays – most with backlight – for seamless results

  • Generous two-user memory that simplifies sharing a single monitor

Every reading at home is part of a bigger picture of someone’s health. That’s why we hold our monitors – and every product that bears the ADC name – to high standards of quality, and why we’re proud to have them independently validated.
